Note:

On June 9, 1970, the Band of Gypsy's played the Memphis, TN Coliseum. March 9, 2012 the Expereince Hendrix Tour came to Nashville. I can attest that at least two people were at both shows: Billy Cox and me.

Jimi was at this second show only in spirit but that was palpable amongst the crowd that was present for this show. If there was a weak point it was in the vocals -- no one can recreate or substitute for Jimi's voice. I guess the same could be said for his guitar licks but, believe me, it was without a doubt a chance to Experience Hendrix in the present day. The nearly 3 hour show featured so many of his great songs performed so well. It was definitely, for me anyway, a blast from the past (I am dating myself here!). I wish the venue had been outdoors because the sonics would heve been much better. These performance halls have a certain cavernous reverberation that seems highlighted in a recording. While this is true here I still feel this recording is true to what was heard and there is only a very minor amount of chatter, mostly from my wife and me as we relished the song choices. Sorry for that!

I highly recommend that you see this show if it comes to a venue near you, especially the St. Augustine, FL. and Orange Beach, FL shows that are in amphitheaters. It seems there are two shows in Austin, TX so maybe this will make a PBS show later this year. Regardless, it is worth the price of admission!

This recording runs 2 hours and 46 minutes. Enjoy!
