10. The Production Notes (Mickeyfs Notes):
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, original band members in Blind Faith reunited with three shows at Madison Square Garden, New York City in February 2008. Since then they had performed across the United States, Europe, the UK and Japan.

Before the duo kicked off the first and surely their last Japan tour, the psyched-up Japanese fan of both made a quite buzz about the dream set-list with possible surprise guests. I for one was thrilled by this reunion of legendary SUPER ROCK group and decided to see as many shows as possible. Seen and enjoyed first two Osaka shows, I was pretty confident at first that the shows must have received high praise from many loyal fans of Eric & Steve. However I was dismayed by the fact that many of them were not just unhappy but somewhat disappointed with their performance. Their main complaint was about their set-list(which remained not much changed through the tour) and their performance(which was solid but totally lacking surprised elements; the excitement generated by an acoustic version of Wonderful Tonight which showed up during the early part of the tour soon fizzled out as people did not get more of something new). Rumor has it that the Japanese promoter could not help but cancel the previously planned and well-scheduled extra show at Budokan hall in Tokyo because of the less enthusiastic responses not just from the general public but also from their devoted fan base in Japan.

One year has passed since I saw them perform at the last show in Tokyo. Last week I dug out old recordings and took a listen to them one last timeccWow!!!! Not bad, not bad at all!! Actually some of their performances were even better than the officially recorded and released ones on CD/DVD. Being infected by Christmas sprits of sharing, I would love to commemorate the one year anniversary of the EC & SW Japan tour which marked the last stop on the duefs trek. To do that, I determined to make a nice compilation covering the Japan tour with a complete song catalog.

Having compiled a tour catalog using various recordings before, I knew that it would be not fun at all to make a compilation. As a matter of fact, it is a pain-in-ass process to choose the songs and then continues with never-ending process to patch them up in line. It takes a lot of time and patience to go through them. But it is really worth it this time. After working for several days on this project, I nailed down most memorable performances from the Japan tour to a single song list (almost complete / only Layla missing) for this upload. None of them has been previously released nor circulated except among our tapers central. This is pretty good stuff. I am pretty sure that you will like it.

Merry Christmas and happy new year!!!!!

Tapersf Notes;
Most of the shows taped from seats at the center of the first block on the floor. Almost all of the recordings turned out to be great.

The main rig is a Schoeps MK4 and Nbox combo with a DPA4061 and Church Audio Pre lineage as a back-up.

An AKG Ck1 active set-up with Oade Mod FR-2LE could have recorded a BEFFY sound with vivid details but was used only once because the first gig of Osaka show (a very first taped show) was plagued with static caused by a simple but fatal cable problem. Apart from some noise, it still shines with rocking tunes like After Midnight and CocainecWe only wish we could have salvaged Voodoo Chile. We could have avoided it and would have possible used it without a same problem at the next show but we just did not want to take a chance.

Up close to the stage, DSM works like magic. Several songs captured with DSM are really remarkable. Driftin and Voodoo Chile recorded at Osaka are one of our favorite versions of all.

Without EQ NOR COMPRESSION, all of our recordings sound pretty excellent to my ears. Enjoy it. Surely this is one of our best recordings wefve ever made.
