Comment:

Yet another excellent performance from the 1994 / 1995 "Blues Tour" era. A really solid audience recording best enjoyed with a nice set of studio headphones. The Sonic mics are really optimized for this - to me, the mics sound like they have the clarity of digital but the warmth of analog.

Working on APlay's (in)famous "box of DATs", most of these shows are un-or-under-circulated. This one has been out there in various forms over the years, here it is directly from the master.

A little history ... back "in the day", I received a clone of these dats and mastered them to CD as "Ocean Boulevard Blues" (http://www.geetarz.org/reviews/clapton/oceanboulevardblues.htm). Copies of these recordings also circulated on analog cassette, and I've seen them posted elsewhere incorrectly using the artwork I created for the digital set, which obviously leads to some confusion. With this release, you have the definitive, easily identifiable version of this show.

APlay tends to run his levels right up near the 0dB mark, so there really wasn't much to do here other than format it for CD. This recording was NOT "Tweaked with Audacity" ... no digital bits were harmed in the making of this set.

Here's a "Shout Out" to the scumbag bootleggers who download the recordings we freely share for other fans - hey, at least get the recording straight from us, not from someone else who hacks it up! (Reference Mid Valley and other labels' usage of the wrong source for the Geetarz/Aplay recording from the "not Miami" Clapton show of 2008). And to you downloaders ... help a friend out, not everyone knows how to torrent. Make copies for some of your friends who are stuck in the Digital Dark Ages, so they won't need to "buy" these shows.

If you want to say "thanks", send 'em APlay's way ... I'm just the messenger. APlay and Cody get all the credit.

Enjoy!
